Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Near Lone Mountain, NV 89129
Straight up Tenaya or Rainbow
About 7 minutes from the mat
ZIP codes: 89129, 89130, 89149

Lone Mountain sits just south of us, and the trip is a straight run north on Tenaya or Rainbow to Ann Road, about seven minutes. It is a neighborhood with a lot of established households and a lot of adults who have been meaning to start training for years and have not, usually because the gyms they knew about were a genuine commute away. This one is not.

Training here from Lone Mountain
The adult program is the draw here more than the kids class. It is mixed level on purpose, so a 40 year old with no martial arts background trains next to experienced belts, which is both how Jiu Jitsu is meant to work and the reason beginners stay safe. Saturday open mat, which starts at 10:00am, adds a weekend session for anyone who wants more mat time than the weeknight block allows.
Who comes in from here: Lone Mountain adults starting from scratch, people returning to training after years off, and local families.

Frequently Asked Questions
I am in my forties and have never trained. Is that a problem?
It is the most common starting point we see in the adult class, and Jiu Jitsu is unusually kind to it. The sport rewards technique, timing and patience over explosive athleticism, which is why a calm beginner in their forties often progresses faster than a young athlete trying to muscle through positions. You control your own intensity in live training and you can sit out any round. Take the two free classes and find out rather than talking yourself out of it for another year.
The adult class is what interests me. Is there anything here for my kids?
Yes, and most nights it is the busier half of the room. Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu takes ages 3 to 12 and runs 6:00 to 7:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with the adult class straight after at 7:00, so a parent and a child can train on the same trip from Lone Mountain rather than making the drive twice. Wednesday's 6:00pm slot is MMA rather than kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and the adult class runs at 7:00 that night as usual. Plenty of our adults started by sitting and watching their kid's class and deciding they wanted a turn.
