Kids and adults training together on the mat at Fight For Us Jiu Jitsu, near Tule Springs

Tule Springs is at the far north edge of the valley, which means most things require a drive. Fight For Us is about eight minutes: south on Durango or Decatur, west on Ann Road to the Rio Vista Shopping Center. For a neighborhood where the nearest anything is usually further than that, it is a short trip, and it is considerably shorter than the Summerlin and southwest academies most northern families end up at.

Training here from Tule Springs

New neighborhoods out here are full of young families, and the kids class is scheduled early enough that a school night still works: on the mat at 6:00, done at 7:00, home and fed at a sane hour. That is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, because Wednesday's 6:00pm slot is MMA rather than kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If a parent wants to train, the adult class runs straight after at 7:00, Monday to Friday. Saturday open mat, which starts at 10:00am, is the option for families whose weeknights are already spoken for.

Who comes in from here: Tule Springs and far north valley families, and adults who want a real academy without driving across town.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is eight minutes realistic in evening traffic?

For the earlier kids class, yes, because you are ahead of the worst of it coming south. The later adult class can run a couple of minutes longer on a bad night. Either way the route is surface streets on Durango or Decatur to Ann Road with no freeway involved, which is why it holds up better than a trip to Summerlin or the southwest at the same hour.

What is the youngest age you take?

Three. The three and four year old end of the kids class is mostly coordination, listening and getting comfortable moving on a mat, and the class is structured so that is a success rather than a failure. Real technical instruction starts to land from about six. If you are not sure whether your child is ready, bring them in for their two free classes and we will give you an honest answer rather than signing you up regardless.
