Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Near Providence, NV 89149
A short hop east on Ann Road
About 7 minutes from the mat
ZIP codes: 89149, 89166

Providence sits just west of us along the Ann Road and Elkhorn corridor, which makes Fight For Us one of the closest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies to the community. The practical version: about seven minutes, no freeway required, straight out on Ann Road to the Rio Vista Shopping Center. If you have been driving your kid to Summerlin or the southwest for martial arts, this is a meaningfully shorter trip on a school night.

Training here from Providence
Providence is a master planned community full of families whose kids are already in something, and the honest question is usually what Jiu Jitsu adds that soccer or basketball does not. The answer is that Jiu Jitsu is individual, so a quiet kid cannot hide at the back and a small kid is not outmatched by size, and it teaches a genuine self defense skill that works by control rather than by striking. It is also the only one of those activities the parent can realistically do alongside them in the next class.
Who comes in from here: Providence parents and kids, and adults adding a skill to an existing gym routine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Jiu Jitsu a good fit for a kid who already plays team sports?
It complements them well, and it fills a gap they usually leave. Team sports teach a child to contribute to a group; Jiu Jitsu puts them alone in a position they have to solve, which builds a different and more transferable kind of confidence. It is also low impact compared to contact sports, with no striking at all, so it tends to sit alongside a season rather than competing with it. Most kids can train two or three nights a week and still play their sport.
What is the drive from Providence?
About seven minutes on surface streets, east along Ann Road to 7135 W Ann Road in the Rio Vista Shopping Center, near Tenaya. No freeway. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the kids train first at 6:00 to 7:00pm and the adults straight after at 7:00 to 8:30pm, so if you are training too, it is one trip for the family rather than two. Wednesday is different: the 6:00pm slot is MMA rather than kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu runs at 7:00 as usual.
