The notable academies by area, with addresses, how to judge a room in one visit, and why we tell you to go trial our competitors.
Full disclosure before anything else: we run one of the gyms this page could recommend, so you should read it the way you would read a restaurant review written by a chef on the same street. What we can offer that a listicle written from another state cannot is this: we actually train here, we know what the good rooms in this city have in common, and we are confident enough in our own mat to tell you to go visit the others.
Why "best gym" is the wrong question
Las Vegas has one of the deepest Jiu Jitsu talent pools in the country. That is our opinion as residents, not a measurement, but world champions live and teach here, fighters camp here, and there are legitimately excellent academies in most corners of the valley. That is exactly why "which gym is best" is the wrong question. The right one is: which good academy will you still be attending in March?
In our experience running a gym, the thing that ends most people's training is not the instruction and it is not the training partners. It is the drive. A famous academy forty minutes across the valley that you attend twice a month will teach you less than a solid neighborhood academy ten minutes away that you attend three nights a week. Consistency is the entire game in Jiu Jitsu, and consistency is mostly a function of friction. We cannot prove that with a study. It is the pattern we watch play out. Pick from the good rooms you will actually drive to.
So the list below is organized by area rather than ranked. Nobody, including us, can tell you which room in this city is best. We can tell you which ones are near you, what each one offers, and how to judge them yourself once you are standing in one.
How to judge any of them in one visit
We wrote a full guide on how to choose a BJJ gym, but the compressed version fits in a paragraph. Watch a class or take a trial and look at four things. Who is teaching: an actual black belt with a verifiable lineage, present on the mat, or a rotating cast? If you are not sure what "third degree black belt under so-and-so" means, our guide to belt ranks unpacks it. How beginners are treated: is someone pairing the new person with a calm upper belt, or are they fed to the wolves? The mat itself: clean mats and enforced hygiene rules are not cosmetic, they are how a gym shows it takes care of its people. The room at the end of class: do people linger and talk, or bolt for the door? You are choosing coworkers for a hobby you will do four hours a week for years. Choose people you like.
Four things, one visit, and you will know more than any article can tell you. That includes this one.
The rooms, by area
Every street address below was checked against that academy's own website on September 4, 2026. One exception is flagged where it appears. Lineups, locations, schedules and offers change, so treat this as a map rather than a directory, and verify anything that matters before you drive.
We have not trained at most of them, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What follows is where they are and what they say they run. Two words show up throughout: the gi is the traditional uniform, the heavy jacket and pants you have seen in photos, and no-gi is shorts and a rash guard. If your neighborhood is not named in a heading — Summerlin, Green Valley — read the two areas on either side of you and measure the drive.
Northwest: Centennial Hills, Skye Canyon, Providence, Elkhorn, Aliante, North Las Vegas
This is our neighborhood, so read this section with the sharpest eye.
We used to tell readers in these areas that we were probably the closest serious room to their house. That was not something we had measured, and it is not true in any way we can defend. Here is who else is up here.
Odin's Halls Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Fitness, 7501 N Cimarron Rd #103, 89131. Their own homepage calls them "America's Premier Jiu Jitsu Team In Centennial Hills," which is their claim rather than ours, but the geography is not in dispute: they are in Centennial Hills. They run kids martial arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing, they advertise seven days of classes free, and their site lists a discounted morning program. If you live off Cimarron or up in Providence, check their drive against ours before you assume anything. Go look at them.
Las Vegas Jiu-Jitsu, 7660 W Cheyenne Ave Ste 120. This is the one address on this page we could not confirm on the academy's own site — its domain redirects to a blog that does not restate a street address, so this comes from its Google listing rather than from the gym. Call before you drive.
Cobrinha BJJ Las Vegas, 7310 W Smoke Ranch Rd, Suite O, 89128. Smoke Ranch is the southern edge of the northwest, so it is worth measuring if you live anywhere south of Lone Mountain. Adult and kids Jiu Jitsu, submission grappling, women's classes, and kids' and adults' boxing. Their site advertises a free trial class and names a second location, Cobrinha BJJ LV South, whose address we could not find published, so we are not printing one.
Fight For Us Jiu Jitsu, 7135 W Ann Rd #140, 89130, in the Rio Vista Shopping Center. That is us: a Team Zenith academy headed by Greg Kalteich, a third degree black belt under Robert Drysdale. An association like Team Zenith is a group of schools tied to one head instructor's lineage; Drysdale's own academy is on Rainbow, listed below. Kids classes and adult classes are stacked back to back so a family trains in one trip, and we give two free classes with no contract and no deposit.
If you live in Centennial Hills, Skye Canyon, Providence, Elkhorn, Aliante or North Las Vegas, there are several rooms within a reasonable drive and we are one of them. Do not take our word for which is closest. Open a maps app, enter your own address, and check the drive to each one at the hour you would actually be training, which for most people is around 5:45 pm on a weekday. Traffic on the 95 at that hour is the number that decides this, not anything we write here.
West: Charleston, Rainbow, Sahara
Zenith BJJ / Drysdale Jiu-Jitsu, 1246 S Rainbow Blvd, 89146. Robert Drysdale's academy, and the head of the association we belong to — our own instructor is a black belt under him, so treat anything we say about it as family talk and discount it accordingly. The checkable parts: family, kids, adult, beginner and competition programs, and two free Jiu Jitsu classes headlined on its homepage.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Las Vegas, 5243 W Charleston Blvd #3, 89146. Led by Mica Cipili, a sixth degree black belt. Kids, adults, no-gi, a competition team and private classes, with a free class advertised on their site. Note the suite: the academy's own site says #3, not the "Ste D" an older list still carries. They also run a Henderson location, listed further down.
Southwest: Spring Valley, Sunset, Buffalo, Grand Canyon
Seven of the rooms on this page sit in this quadrant, which means a southwest reader can look at three of them in a week without crossing the valley once.
10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Las Vegas, South West location at 7145 S Buffalo Dr Ste 130. 10th Planet is the no-gi system founded by Eddie Bravo, and it trains no-gi only, with no uniform required. Head coach and owner Casey Halstead is a third degree black belt with lineage under Eddie Bravo and Jean Jacques Machado. Adults plus kids aged 5 to 15, first class free with no credit card, and one membership covers all three of their valley locations with no extra fee. If you already know you want rubber guard and no gi ever, that is its lane.
Gracie Barra West Las Vegas, 5651 S Grand Canyon Dr, 89148. Gracie Barra is a large international association that runs a standardized curriculum, so a class here is structured the same way it would be at one of its schools in another state. This is the valley school we confirmed on Gracie Barra's own site. We did not check the association's whole directory, so do not read that as the only one.
SimGo Academy, 7060 W Sunset Rd, 89113. Gi and no-gi, adults and kids. Their site states the terms plainly, which is rarer than it should be: month to month, and no contracts, cancellation fees or hidden fees.
Potential Jiu Jitsu, 9640 W Tropicana Ave Suite 120, 89147, in Spring Valley. Professor Kris Olivo is a black belt under Robert Drysdale, which makes this the same lineage our own head instructor comes from. Gi, no-gi, self-defense, women's and kids classes, with a free trial class advertised.
Jiu-Jitsu Methods, 8645 S Rainbow Blvd #130. Classes plus scheduled open rolling and community events, and its own site publishes hours of 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday, which makes it one of the few rooms here that tells you its daytime availability without a phone call.
Syndicate MMA, 6315 S Rainbow Blvd, and Xtreme Couture MMA, 4055 W Sunset Rd. These are fight gyms with serious grappling programs inside them rather than Jiu Jitsu academies. Syndicate runs Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu under black belt Chris Brennan, wrestling and kids classes; Xtreme Couture runs a dedicated Jiu Jitsu program alongside the rest of its MMA offering. If your goal is MMA rather than Jiu Jitsu specifically, that environment is the point. One thing to know before you walk in: Syndicate's trial is not free. Their site sells a three-day trial for $30.
Central
10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Las Vegas, Central, 4533 W Sahara Ave, in Westlake Center. Same no-gi system, same membership, described above.
Sergio Penha Jiu-Jitsu Academy, 3904 Schiff Dr, 89103. Kids and adult Jiu Jitsu plus seminars, with a free trial class advertised.
East valley
Cascão Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, 3870 E Flamingo Rd Suite A12. Walter "Cascão" Vital is a fifth degree black belt under Mario Sukata and Fabio Santos, with more than thirty years teaching and competing and a long list of titles on his own site. Kids Jiu Jitsu, gi, no-gi and Muay Thai, and the first Jiu Jitsu class is free.
If you live east of the Strip, that one entry matters more than it looks. The single editorial roundup currently ranking for this search stops at the west and central valley and never mentions your side of town.
Henderson
10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Henderson, 1225 W Warm Springs Rd #140. No-gi only, first class free, and covered by the same membership as the Central and South West rooms.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Henderson, 11165 S Eastern Ave Ste 110, Henderson 89052. The second location of the Charleston academy above, listed on their own site. If you live in Henderson, this and the 10th Planet room on Warm Springs are the two entries here you should measure first.
One room we could not place
Hybrid Jiu-Jitsu runs age-banded kids programs (Little Samurai's 4 to 6, Fundamentals 7 to 13, Advanced 14 and up). We could not find a street address published on its homepage, so we are not going to invent one. It exists, it is worth a search if the age bands fit your kid, and we would rather say that than print an address we have not seen.
Gi, no-gi, and what a beginner should pick
Some academies are gi-first, some are no-gi only, most run both. You can see it in the list above: 10th Planet is no-gi only across all three of its locations, while SimGo, Potential and Cascão run both. For a beginner it matters less than the internet suggests, and we cover the honest trade-offs in gi versus no-gi. The short version: start with whatever the good academy near you runs, because the fundamentals transfer almost entirely. Do not drive an extra twenty minutes for a uniform preference you do not have yet.
Use the trials. All of them.
Most of the rooms above advertise a free first class or a free trial, each one listed with its gym and read off that gym's own site. Take more than one before you commit to anything.
The exception matters, because we name the gym on this page: Syndicate MMA sells a three-day trial for $30, not a free one. That is not a criticism. Three days for $30 is arguably a better look at a room than one free class. But if you walk in expecting free, you will be surprised, and we would rather you were not. Where no trial is listed above, we simply did not find one stated on the page we checked. Call and ask.
We give two free classes rather than one, because a single class tells you about a night, not a room. Drysdale headlines two as well and Odin's Halls headlines a week, so two is not unusual and we are not claiming it is.
If you visit us and somewhere else fits your life better, genuinely, go there. A person who picks the right gym stays in Jiu Jitsu for years, and that is good for every academy in this city, including ours. If it helps to know what you are walking into, we wrote up what actually happens in a first class.
If you cannot train in the evening
Our schedule is Monday to Friday, 5:00 to 8:30 pm, Saturday 9:00 to 11:30 am, closed Sunday. Kids at 6:00 pm, adults at 7:00 pm, Wednesday evening is MMA, Saturday morning is adult MMA followed by open mat. That is the whole thing. If you work swing shift, if you are a nurse on nights, if the only hour you have is 6 am before work, we cannot serve you. We are not open.
Some rooms are. Google's listings show Zenith BJJ, Cobrinha and Xtreme Couture opening at 6 am, Syndicate at 8 am, Las Vegas Jiu-Jitsu at 9 am and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Las Vegas at 9:30 am. Jiu-Jitsu Methods publishes 9 am to 9 pm weekdays on its own site, and Odin's Halls advertises a discounted morning program. A Google listing tells you when the doors open, not when a class runs. Call and ask which mornings have an actual beginner class on the mat, because an open door and a coached session are different things.
Visiting Las Vegas, or just dropping in
Message the gym before you show up. Give your belt, your home academy and the class you want, and ask what a drop-in costs, because we did not find a single Las Vegas academy publishing a drop-in rate on its site. Bring your own gi if you train gi rather than assuming there is a loaner. Open mats are the easiest door: less structure, no commitment, and nobody minds a visitor.
Ours is Saturday at 10:00 am and visitors are welcome. Details are on the open mat page. If you are staying on the Strip, start with the central and east valley rooms above. The northwest, us included, is the wrong end of town for you.
What it costs
We checked fifteen Las Vegas academy websites on September 4, 2026, including our own and every gym named on this page. Exactly one displayed a price of any kind, and it was Syndicate's $30 three-day trial. Not one published a monthly membership rate on the page we looked at. That is a fact about their websites, not about the gyms. You have to ask.
So you cannot comparison shop this city from your couch, and any page handing you a tidy price table for Las Vegas gyms did not get those numbers from these websites. What you can do is walk in with the right questions. Ask the monthly rate for the program you actually want. Ask whether it is month to month or a term contract, and what it costs to cancel. Ask about the sign-up fee, the gi you will need to buy, and whether kids and adults in one family get anything. SimGo states no contracts, cancellation fees or hidden fees on its own site, and we run month to month with no contract and no deposit, so it is a fair question to ask anywhere.

The best way to answer this is on the mat
Your first two classes at Fight For Us Jiu Jitsu are free. No contract, no deposit. We are at 7135 W Ann Rd #140 in northwest Las Vegas, Monday to Friday evenings and Saturday morning.
And if one of the other rooms on this page is closer to your door or open at an hour that works and ours is not, go there instead. We meant that when we wrote it.
